GARLIC - Exports of Powder totaled 1.8 million pounds for the first three months of 2001, up 68% when compared to the same period of time in 2000. U.S. exports to Australia totaled 329,980 pounds, a substantial increase from the 98,064 pounds shipped last year.
U.S. exports to Mexico totaled 225,233 pounds compared to only 4,367 pounds in 2000 and had a f.a.s. value of $126,154 or 56 cents per pound, according The Food Institute's Analysis of Bureau of Census data.
Shipments to Spain, typically a large market for U.S. Garlic Powder, were down 52% to 67,444 pounds.
