Is it really necessary for stores to open 24 hours?
I WAS amused to read that some of our local Asda stores have decided to begin 24-hour opening on a permanent basis.
If the last two Christmas periods have been anything to go by then all they will have to sell in the early hours are lots of empty shelves.
I tried to shop at around midnight on each of the last two Christmas periods.
On both occasions there were no fruit and vegetables left, not a morsel of bread could be found and the wines and spirits section was closed.
