Lockheed Martin's [LMT] past experience on the Joint Air-to-Surface Standoff Munition (JASSM) and Wind Corrected Munitions Dispenser (WCMD) contributed to the company's selection by the Air Force for the component advanced development phase of the Small Diameter Bomb (SDB) program, the company said yesterday.
The Air Force on Monday awarded Lockheed Martin and Boeing [BA] $11.6 million contracts each for the program (Defense Daily, Oct. 1). That will fund one year's worth of work, Lockheed Martin spokeswoman Nettie Johnson said yesterday. Each company is to receive $47 million for two years of work.
