One of Canada's oldest trade partnerships is moving toward creating history once again. The Hudson's Bay Company has committed $75,000 to support the study of Canada's Metis people at Carleton University.
The university announced the retail giant will donate $25,000 annually over the next three years to create a visiting professorship in Metis studies at the School of Canadian Studies.
Carleton will use the funds to hire faculty, establish a curriculum, organize symposia, and conduct teaching and research for a new undergraduate course in Metis culture and traditions.
