Bruce Perry just wanted to eat. His football teammates at the University of Maryland had other ideas.
They wanted to embarrass him.
So as Perry, a graduate of Philadelphia's George Washington High School, walked through the campus dining hall with a tray full of food in hands, his teammates let everybody know who was in their midst. Hey everybody, this is Bruce Perry.
That is the moment when everybody turned. And looked. And stared.
Perry, a redshirt sophomore running back, is growing used to the attention. Among Division I schools, he leads the nation in rushing. Everybody, it seems, has been turning to look and stare lately.
