SAN FRANCISCO _ Barry Bonds gave his fans a lovely parting gift.

No. 73 came quickly Sunday, in the first inning on a full count. Dennis Springer, the Dodgers' knuckleballer, looped a 43 mph pitch to Bonds that the Home Run King golfed 385 feet into the right-field promenade.
The ball nearly caused a riot but was finally secured by Patrick Hayashi, a media-shy 36-year-old who identified himself only as being from Santa Clara County. He declined to talk to reporters and never spoke to Bonds, possibly because he wanted to rush out to meet with his financial adviser.
