When Temple Israel lured Larry King to speak Sunday night at a fund-raiser, it was a considered a coup for the Minneapolis synagogue. And a first.
Temple Israel had never booked a speaker of King's magnitude to help raise money, said Neal Frank, the synagogue's director of development.
And though King had to cancel his appearance this week to do a live broadcast on CNN, the patrons who paid between $18 and $2,500 for tickets for the sold-out event will get to hear another celebrity heavyweight - political commentator George Will.
