The judge who presided over the first trial of a Richmond midwife accused of involuntary manslaughter is prejudiced against her and should not be allowed to hear the retrial, Yvonne Cryns' attorney claimed Thursday.
Andrea Lyon, a DePaul University Law School professor representing Cryns without charge, said Lake County Circuit Judge James Booras created "a perception of bias" through some of his rulings and comments during Cryns' first trial.
Cryns, 50, of 5703 Hillcrest Drive, was charged with involuntary manslaughter and involuntary manslaughter to an unborn child for her actions as she attended the Aug. 22, ...
