The Wisconsin State Journal has won a 2001 Lee President's Award for an investigation that found state legislative employees involved in partisan political campaigning.
This was the second year in a row the State Journal won a Lee Enterprises Inc. award for excellence in news.
"This award recognizes the importance of this journalism and the effort that went into it," said Frank Denton, State Journal editor. "But its real value will be the cleaning up of this mess, when the Legislature, the governor or the courts get at it."
