In July 2001, Alexandria, Va.-based Institute of Navigation (ION) elected Ronald R. Hatch as president. Hatch, principal and co-founder of Redondo Beach, Calif-based NavCom Technology Inc., a Deere & Co. subsidiary, currently serves as director of NavCom's Navigation Systems Engineering division. In addition to his appointment as ION president, the institute also presented Hatch with its Thomas L. Thurlow Award for his "outstanding and sustained contributions to the science of satellite navigation."
