Oct. 9--Antonio Rodriguez jabs a blue-and-white-striped mattress under a rapid-fire needle of one of Paramount Manufacturing's bordering machines.
On a good day, Rodriguez, the Damascus company's most seasoned employee, stitches borders on 100 mattresses made to fit in the sleeper compartment of heavy-duty trucks. His dexterity and swiftness has made Paramount an award-winning supplier of Portland-based Freightliner.
