Oct. 9--Alamo Masa Co., a San Antonio maker of tortillas, chips and masa, has been shut down by the Texas Department of Health for unsafe food processing conditions, officials at the agency said Monday.
Julee Magness, an inspector in the Health Department's Manufactured Food Division, said Alamo Masa first was given notice of conditions at its plant on May 19, 1999. Conditions cited then were nearly identical to the conditions that led to last week's order, she said.
