NEW YORK -- Protection has become as important a factor as fashion in the choices that shoppers make when purchasing a pair of sunglasses today.
"Consumers have become very concerned about UV protection," says Sun Designe Ltd. national accounts manager Jack Taber, whose company is offering numerous polarized lenses that deliver ultraviolet (TN) rays and polarized protection.
A spate of medical studies in recent years as well as marketing campaigns by such groups as the Vision Council of America have led to a growing awareness among Americans about the damage that exposure to the UV rays of the sun can do to unprotected eyes.
