At a June 28 shareholders meeting in Tokyo, Seiko Corp. planned to make Seiko Watch Corp. a wholly owned subsidiary. Tsutomu Mitome, president and chief executive officer of Seiko Corp. of America (SCA), was scheduled to become president of the new Seiko Watch Corp. At that same meeting, Seiko Corp. was slated to formally become a holding company, involved only in the financial and real estate concerns of its six independent companies. Seiko is one of the world's best-selling watch brands and a popular seller in U.S. department stores.
