After years of struggling to overcome financial and leadership problems, the Urban League of Onondaga County is considering merging with the Urban League of Rochester.
Urban League board members said a merger with Rochester is the best hope for saving the local chapter, which was created in 1964 to promote civil rights through educational, housing and social services programs.
Since 1994, when Leon Modeste resigned after 15 years as executive director, the league has had four interim directors and three executive directors.
