HOUSTON _ Starting pitcher Dave Mlicki exceeded the Houston Astros' hopes with his first postseason effort Wednesday. But even on his best day, he still wasn't good enough to outduel Atlanta's Tom Glavine.
Mlicki allowed only one unearned run in five innings but was a 1-0 loser before 35,704 under the roof at Enron Field. The Braves seized a 2-0 lead in their best-of-5 National League Division Series, as Glavine and John Smoltz combined on a seven-hit shutout that shoved the Astros to the brink of elimination. The series shifts to Atlanta's Turner Field for Game 3 on Friday.
