Prince George's County topped the charts as the fastest growing county in the Washington area this year. Home sales in the first quarter increased by 65 percent over the first quarter of 2000.
The most expensive housing markets in the metropolitan area are the District and Montgomery and Fairfax counties to the west of the city. Housing, however, is less expensive in Prince George's, which borders the District on the east.
