Article: Niagara Mohawk Utility Reaches Rate Agreement with New York State.

Oct. 13--Niagara Mohawk's residential customers would pay 5 percent less for electric service under a proposed 10-year rate settlement with state regulators that also would clear the way for the company's merger with British transmission giant National Grid Group.

The settlement involving the two companies and the state Public Service Commission staff would erase most -- but not all -- of the 8.2 percent increase in electricity delivery charges that took effect for most of Niagara Mohawk's residential customers at the beginning of September.
