Oct. 14--With 15,000 hotel-casino workers laid off and the economy uncertain, local employment experts say job applicants are pouring into their offices. Unfortunately, they say, there's more people than jobs.
"Jobs are down," said Jane Whisner, managing director of the Eastridge Group employment agency. "There are not as many positions open anywhere today as there were maybe a month ago. Jobs were down some before (the terrorist attacks), but took another hit after September 11."
