Telecoms group Net Uno has acquired the (dialled) Internet access division of Convergence Communications, adding 4,000 new Venezuelan clients to its portfolio. Net Uno is still in negotiations with Convergence and might end up with a majority stake. Convergence has a direct presence in Caracas, Ciudad Ojeda, Puerto la Cruz and Maracaibo. The deal also involves the settling of an earlier debt taken on by Convergence in the past. Founded in 1995 as Cabletel, Net Uno acquired a fixed-line telephony license in February 2001 and it will start up such services in two weeks' time when its interconnection works with Telcel, Digitel and Cantv is ...
