Gene Sweitzer was 7 years old when he got his first German shepherd.
Since then, the Downers Grove man has owned 12 dogs, all of them German shepherds, and he's convinced there's no better breed.
So it's no surprise he spends every Monday night with a group of people who have the same reverence he does for the German shepherd - the Topline German Shepherd Dog Club of Illinois.
Area residents will have a chance to see just what's so special about this dog at the club's annual dog show in Medinah this weekend.
