AUGUST STORE RESULTS
* SEARS MERCHANDISE GROUP, Sears, Roebuck: Sales edged up 2.3 percent to $2,504,976,551 from $2,447,513,381, while same-store sales fell 1.1 percent. In the year-to-date, sales rose 6.1 percent to $18,216,523,000 from $17,173,290,000 and comparable-store sales were up 3.6 percent.
* K MART CORP.: Sales increased 4.8 percent to $2,058,570,000 from $1,964,959,000, while same-store sales rose 1.5 percent. Year-to-date sales increased 4.4 percent to $15,135,345,000 from $14,490,811,000, but comparable-store sales edged up only 0.9 percent.
