In a private action, a citizen petition was filed with the FDA yesterday morning regarding BioPort, the Lansing, Michigan firm which manufactures the anthrax vaccine. The petition calls for the FDA to issue a Final Rule on the drug category placement of anthrax vaccine as Category II (unsafe, ineffective, or misbranded); to declare as adulterated all stockpiles of anthrax vaccine adsorbed in the possession of BioPort Corporation and all doses in private, public, U.S. or foreign government possession; to enforce its own Agency policies and provisions with respect to the anthrax vaccine, and with respect to the contracts ...
