Oct. 14--In a state considered hostile territory for unions, some members of the state Highway Patrol say they see a union as their only option for better pay.
More than 100 state troopers have joined the Washington, D.C.-based International Union of Police Associations in recent months, hoping to win acceptance and score political points with administrators and lawmakers.
But the union's options are limited in South Carolina, experts say.
