An original type of cast iron, said to display resistance to both corrosion and friction, that is superior to that of stainless steel, has been developed by Sankyo Iron & Copper Alloy Foundry in association with Kyoto University, and the Kyoto Municipal Institute of Industrial Research.
The basic ingredients of stainless steel are iron, chromium, and nickel and contain added carbon and palladium to disperse and precipitate vanadium carbonate of spherical crystal composition.
