Is there anything more thrilling than yellow, purple and white crocuses pushing through the snow, absolutely ending the gray, drab days of winter?
Mixing them with the blues, pinks and whites of anemones or windflowers could add to the charm, although these might be considered "borderline" in our climate.
Then up come the gold and whites of daffodils and a rainbow of hyacinths, which are available from white through pink, red, yellow and purple.
Of course, tulips are always a good idea, and you can pick versions that bloom from early through late spring.
