EIGHT new planets have been found orbiting nearby stars including three with circular orbits like the Earth.
The discoveries increase the chances of Earth-like planets capable of sustaining life existing elsewhere in the galaxy.
They were made by a team of international astronomers carrying out a systematic search for new planets around stars within a distance of about 100 light years.
