BELIEVE it or not, there is really more to tourism than meets the inexperienced eye. Tourism is like an immense iceberg and those who have not had a brush with this specialized industry can only see its tip. Solutions to problems of the tourism industry are most often not found in the realm of the Department of Tourism, but in other government agencies. As a result, the industry's potential as a vital factor in ensuring economic growth is only grudgingly recognized by, for instance, the National Economic Development Authority (NEDA). Let us hope the present administration gives tourism its place in the sun, so to speak, instead of fragmented paragraphs in a medium-term ...
