The American news networks stationed in central Asia are engaged in their own private war.
Fox News Channel struck the latest blow in its ongoing feud with CNN last week, when it hired Steve Harrigan, a ten-year CNN correspondent based in Moscow, to report from northern Afghanistan. Just hours after informing CNN of his departure, Harrigan, who was already in Afghanistan reporting for CNN, was reporting for Fox News via videophone from a region of the country where the ruling Taliban government's opponents are based.
A favorite tactic of both sides in the Fox-CNN rivalry has been to put poached talent on the air as quickly as possible. Not even a week ...
