Credit unions in Ohio and around the world are celebrating their uniqueness as financial services providers in celebration of International Credit Union Week. The focus of most activities will be Thursday, October 18, the 53rd annual Credit Union Day.
Ohio's nearly 600 credit unions are non-profit financial institutions, which place member service and people above everything else. Nearly 3 million Ohioans belong to credit unions, which are governed by unpaid, volunteer boards of directors, elected by and from the membership. Each member of a credit union has one vote in all elections.
