Oct. 18--Thousands of travelers and nearly 70 flights were delayed in and out of San Francisco Airport Wednesday morning when a bomb scare from an unattended bag sparked the airport's most hectic evacuation since Sept. 11.
The bag sent bomb squads running about 8 a.m. after a skycap noticed it sitting on the curb by a United Airlines' check-in. He sent the bag through a high-tech X-ray machine, which misinterpreted a camcorder and stack of magazines inside as a possible bomb.
