Oct. 16--Before moving to Mount Joy a year ago, Maggie Methlie and her husband Dave lived in a small town near Chicago where the once-dead downtown had found new life.
The rejuvenation of Crystal Lake, Ill., happened after local leaders got together to form a Main Street program, then they went about filling vacant businesses and organizing "activities that brought people into the downtown," Mrs. Methlie recalled. "It made a difference."
Now the Methlies and others in Mount Joy hope to do the same in their northwestern Lancaster County borough, which is celebrating ...
