IN 1964, TIRED OF THE STRESSES of corporate life and at the request of his wife, Gayle, Homer Circle gave his employer a 60-day notice that he would no longer serve as vice president of advertising and public relations. His wife suggested that he write freelance fishing articles because that's what he liked to do. As he says, "I warned her that we might starve, and she reminded me that we had enough money saved up to last a year, so I decided to give it a try."
