NEW YORK -- For the fashion crowd, Rudy will be a tough act to follow.
While the field for today's primary election to choose the two main candidates for mayor has failed to spark much interest among New Yorkers, apparel executives are certainly keeping a close watch.
They're concerned about the state of the industry and the overall economic situation in the city, and are looking to the next inhabitant of City Hall to offer some solutions. A general consensus is that it will be hard for the next city chief to live up to Mayor Rudolph Giuliani's legacy, following what has been one of the most fashion- and retail-friendly administrations.
