'486 chip sets due for AT, MCA, EISA LAS VEGAS, NV--Western Digital's introduction of a MicroChannel-compatible 80486 chip set at Comdex marks the beginning of a wave of PC/AT-, MicroChannel-, and EISA-compatible chip sets to culminate next year. The sets will differ in their support of the 80486's burst mode and second-level caches.
Several of the 80486-based systems introduced in the past two months employ a
second-level cache. The 80486 includes an 8-kbyte on-chip cache.
