It's always fun betting on the Nobel Prize for Literature. Who would ever have guessed that Pearl Buck and Winston Churchill would win it, but that James Joyce and Marcel Proust would not?
This year's choice, V.S. Naipaul, is a fine one, especially given current geopolitical circumstances and his critiques of fundamentalist Islam as a fellow Third Worlder.
