Geoff Muldaur doesn't fit the stereotype of a blues great. He is, after all, quiet, subtle and supremely easy-going. He never screams, and his acoustic guitar is equally gentle.
Yet while his manner might be modest, his skills and charms are anything but. Muldaur knows blues secrets like few men alive do. At a relaxed, sumptuous show at Club Passim last night, the veteran singer cooed, caterwauled, exhibited a remarkably expressive falsetto, and seduced the crowd with musical ways that were always laid-back but never slack.
