On the heels of unveiling version 2.0 of the Financial products Markup Language (FpML) last month, FpML.org plans to extend FpML's product coverage to include equity derivatives and foreign exchange.
Matt Meinel, co-chairman of the FpML.org standards committee, said these asset classes will form the core of FpML 3.0, a working draft of which is expected in early 2002. Equity derivatives products in the next version of the standard will include single-stock, basket, index and convertible bond equity swaps.
Version 2.0 was publicly released as a working draft on Sept. 14, and
