Oct. 23--Giving money to help build the Harold Leever Regional Cancer Center makes sense in more than one way.

Michael G. Morris, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Berlin-based Northeast Utilities, said it not only helps cancer patients, but it also helps Waterbury's two hospitals save money.

On Monday, he showed up at the center's construction site at 1039 Chase Parkway to present a $100,000 check to boost the development of the two-story center. It is a joint effort between Waterbury Hospital and St. Mary's Hospital. The gift was donated ...
