Thousands of small merchants were once the sales target of Philadelphia-based Credit Card Center. In fact, the now-defunct ATM independent sales organization became known for its aggressive sales tactics to get ATMs installed in such low-volume locations as sports bars and car-repair shops.
Now, another ISO, San Diego, Calif.-based XtraCash ATM, a subsidiary of Toronto-based CIBC Corp., Canada's second-largest bank, will find out how many of those merchants want to keep ATMs in their stores. It also will have a better grasp of how many of the merchants are worth encouraging to keep their ATMs.
