HUNDREDS of desperate Afghan refugees were fired on yesterday as they fought their way past border guards to enter Pakistan.
Five people, including a 13-year-old boy, were injured in the rampage.
The crowd had turned violent after the border at Chaman, near Quetta, was temporarily closed by nervous officials to allow a high-level Pakistani military and civil delegation to assess the situation.
That unnerved many Afghans who thought they would not be allowed in.
Normally, those with valid travel documents are admitted, along with people who are injured.
