The Anglo-French Concorde Working Group approved various safety modifications to Concorde at a 20 Aug meeting in Paris, clearing the way for the supersonic passenger jet to restart commercial flights.

In a statement after its ninth meeting since the crash of an Air France Concorde near Paris on 25 July 2000 in which 113 people died, the group said aviation authorities were likely to issue Concorde's airworthiness certificate by the end of August.
