Software developer Emperative Monday released a package designed to help cable providers manage millions of IP addresses.
Emperative says its CMX IP Address Manager can manage 24,000 addresses per minute, and was designed to handle the increased amounts of IP addresses that come with new cable services like IP telephony, gaming and interactive video. CMX complies with the Data Over Cable Interface Specification 1.1 standard.
Speed of address assignment, however, is not what matters most, Emperative notes.
