Andrew Sullivan, outspokenly conservative and gay, will be a little less outspoken, from now on, at least in the New Republic, where his column, TRB, is being taken over by Peter Beinart, who became the magazine's editor two years ago. Sullivan, once the editor of the magazine, also writes scathing commentary for The New York Times Magazine.
The New Republic's name for the column comes from a reversal of the initials BRT, which once stood for Brooklyn Rapid Transit, the subway line an early New Republic editor rode to work.
