The American Speech-Language- Hearing Association (ASHA) today expressed its disappointment with the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force's (USPSTF) recent Recommendations and Rationale statement on Newborn Hearing Screening, believing that the task force's conclusions are inconsistent with good clinical practices and may be misinterpreted by consumers, insurers, legislators and employers.
