Sour cream that's sour cream
Here's new Creamy 'n Pure sour cream, from Old Home. It contains cultured pasteurized grade A cream. And that's all. The ingredient list for Old Home's regular sour cream (typical of others and shorter than many) is: cultured pasteurized grade A milk, cream, nonfat milk, carob bean gum and carrageenan.
The latter two ingredients are thickeners/ stabilizers, both of vegetable origin. Some brands contain gelatin. These nondairy ingredients in regular sour cream help make up for the thinner ingredients.
