WASHINGTON--The European Aeronautic Defence and Space Co. [EAD] last week signed for the acquisition of a 51 percent stake in the Polish aircraft company PZL Warszawa Okecie and pledged to increase its stake to 85 percent within two years, EADS said.
EADS in August won a $212 million contract to supply eight of its C-295 light transport aircraft to Poland, beating out the C-27J by Lockheed Martin [LMT] and Italy's Alenia [FNC] and the An-32 by Ukraine's Antonov.
EADS was in part selected for its willingness to take the stake in PZL Warszawa Okecie. Founded in 1928, PZL Warszawa Okecie is Poland's oldest aircraft manufacturer. The ...
