This book's title is slightly misleading because it suggests some kind of encyclopaedic coverage of all known Wild West shows. What the volume actually contains is tightly focused discussions of four shows, and the men responsible for them, that were active from the 1830s to the 1930s, the era Reddin considers the heyday of Wild West shows.
