The latest Judicial Appointments Annual Report (for 2000/01) shows that applications and appointments of female and members of ethnic minority communities to the judiciary are still increasing.
Women applying for judicial office now make up 25.6% of applicants (compared to 24.2% in 1999/2000), and significantly this proportion rises in terms of actual appointments - now 28.4% compared to 26.9%.
