CANBERRA, Oct 30 Asia Pulse - Australian Prime Minister John Howard has denied a deferral of the sale of the remaining stake in Telstra would have any impact on the budget forward estimates.
Mr Howard repeated that no more of Telstra would be sold until the government was satisfied it was providing an appropriate level of service to rural and regional areas.
He said if no improvement was apparent over the next three years the sale would not proceed.
"We will not sell an additional share in Telstra unless and until we are satisfied that services in the bush are up to scratch," he said on ABC television.
